TOMMY MURRAY FUNDRAISER BACKED BY SINGING STAR FLEMING
‘I’LL DO WHAT I CAN TO HELP. THIS NIGHT DESERVES SO MUCH SUPPORT’
WORLD renowned singing star Tommy Fleming has thrown his support behind the Tommy Murray Rehabilitation Fund.
The star, who has performed in such venues as the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall in New York and partnered with Vince Gill and Kenny Rogers, vowed he’d do what he can to help the Tallanstown resident and Duleek native, who suffered serious injuries some months ago.
Tommy was painting a pub in Navan when he was struck by a car. The impact shattered his pelvis and he suffered internal injuries. He is presently confined to a wheelchair as a result and is unable to work.
Tommy painted the Dominican Church earlier this year - as well as the much praised West Gate House and Dominick’s Bridge - and friends of the church have organised a special night for Tommy in the Westcourt Hotel on Friday, November 23.
Tommy Fleming visited the church last week as part of his concert at the venue on December 6th and immediately said he’d help with Tommy’s fund.
He intends donating merchandise for the night and gladly posed with a top prize, running as part of the fundraiser.
‘We were looking for spot prizes for November 23 and a person presented us with an incredible ring,’ Rita Hanratty from the organising committee stated.
The diamond and ruby ring is very valuable, and will be raffled as part of the fund on Thursday, December 13th, just in time for Christmas.
From this week, tickets will be on sale from the Dominican Church mass office at €5 each. They can be purchased during normal opening hours or after mass on Sundays.
‘We really hope that people support the night on November 23 as all funds will be going to Tommy’s fund. Tickets are €20 and the night includes finger food, raffles, prizes and even a best Christmas jumper competition. It will have a Christmas theme so people can dress up if they wish.’
Tommy Fleming said he wished Tommy the best of luck and hopes the fundraiser will be a big success. ‘I’ll do what I can to help. This night deserves so much support.’
