Termon Abbey traffic calm call

-

SINN Féin Councillor Kenneth Flood (pictured) has welcomed cross party support for his motion calling for traffic calming measures in the Termon Abbey Estate.

He said that although Termon Abbey was only taken in charge by Louth County Council last year, there has been calls for several years now for traffic calming measures.

“This call was amplified recently when a five-year-old child was knocked down and injured,” he said after the November meeting of members. “Thankfully the child is ok after spending some time in hospital, but this accident spurned the residents on to put together a petition to call for traffic calming measures for their estate.”

He added that hundreds of residents, ‘ the vast majority of residents’, signed that petition and it will now go forward it to the relevant personnel in Louth County Council.

“I want to thank the other members for their cross-party support for my motion,” said Cllr Flood. “The first step to getting ramps or some other measures is for a speed check to be carried out and that will happen this month. I will continue to pursue this issue until it is resolved.’
