More informatio­n would be good on Capt Michael Donnelly, who died in July 1954.

It was reported he was the last seaman from Baltray to be master and owner of a sailing vessel, as like his father before him, he owned the schooner ‘Brothers’ of Drogheda and sold it before the 1914-18 war.

Two sons went to sea and I think one drowned on the sinking of the Lampart and Holt liner, ‘Lassel’.
