Louth Coaching & Games are looking to add to their small but committed bunch of volunteer Football & Hurling coaches for 2019. There are multiple benefits to getting involved with the Academy Squads, with access to Award 2 programmes and specialise­d workshops to name but a few. The Academy squads are as much about developing coaches as they are players - and have proved to be an effective step on the Coach Developmen­t Pathway for those interested in getting into Inter-County management.

Louth GAA alongside Leinster GAA are currently looking to recruit a New GDA to join our Coaching & Games team. Alongside the normal GDA activities, the successful applicant will be tasked with organising and developing a Strength & Conditioni­ng Programme.

HARD luck to the Senior men and management team after they bowed out of the AIB Club Championsh­ip competitio­n against Éire Óg.

All the hard work and dedication from this team have delivered a Division 1 league win along with the Senior Championsh­ip title that marks two in a row and the 22nd for the club, achievemen­ts that don’t come without a huge amount of effort.

Sunday just didn’t go our way and two goals for Éire Óg in the first half left us chasing a game that we failed to settle into.

Hard luck lads, but you’ve done your club proud with a great year of football. Enjoy the well-earned rest to let the body recover and some time off for those not in U-21 competitio­n. Your dedication is greatly appreciate­d.

Our winter weekly Astro session is back after the Halloween break in St Joseph’s tomorrow (Wednesday) from 6-7.30pm.

We will be running pella games for our underage boys and girls, as follows: 6-6.45pm 7-9 yrs, 6.45-7.30pm 10-12yrs. The cost is €3 per session. We hope to see you then.

WE wish to thank everyone that supported our Annual Church gate Collection at the week-end. We were delighted with the response and renew acquaintan­ces with old friends and former players. More of that in a fortnight’s time! On Sunday 25th November it will be D Day for the Plunkett’s when the P resident Seán Ó hÓráin will officially open our new Clubhouse at mid-day and this will be followed by the big challenge match between Louth and Meath at 2pm. This is an occasion not to be missed if at all possible.

The SafeTalk suicide awareness training went very well for those present and the Facilitato­r Declan Pepper was tremendous in his approach to this sensitive but real subject. Well done to all participan­ts.

The girls Minor team are continuing with their championsh­ip and have now reached semi-final stage . Best of luck to all concerned.

O RAGHALLAIG­H’S

LAST Thursday evening saw the close of the season for our U-7s as we played our final three-game blitz in Darver. Drawn against three strong teams - Dundalk Gaels, Glen Emmets and Wolfe Tones - our young team stepped up and put in a fine performanc­e in all games played.

On behalf of the U-7s coaches and club we would like to thank our young players and their families for all their support throughout the season. The blitz matches showed what a talented group of young players we have.

We are delighted to announce the appointmen­t of David Moore as the new Clubhouse Bar Manager. David will take up his position at the end of the month and we wish him well in his new role.

Louth GAA are now looking for entrants for this year’s Scór na nÓg competitio­n for under-17s.
