DUNDALK GAELS

A vote of sympathy was passed at last week’s committee meeting with the family of Nan Lawless, a daughter of one of the club’s founder-members, Willie Lawless.

Nan, who lived in Mulholland Avenue, did outstanding work for the club, serving on the ladies’ committee for a number of years. Her confectionery and fancy goods shop in Park Street, which fronted her father’s wellknown hairdressing salon, was a meeting place for Gaels, and it wasn’t unusual for chats to be conducted in Irish, Nan being an ardent Gaeligeoir.

Her remains were removed from her brother Billy’s home in Brook Street, where she reposed, to St Patrick’s Cathedral, and the funeral took place after Requiem Mass to St Patrick’s Cemetery. The coffin was draped in the club’s colours.

Nan is survived by her brother, Billy, and sisters, Geraldine and Sheila (Mrs Phil Lynch). Her late brother, Pat, was a member of our committee and a former chairman.

The lotto jackpot continues to grow, and for tonight’s draw a prize of €15,100 is on offer. To have a chance of winning, get along to Grant’s Newsagents, Dublin, where tickets at €2 each or three for €5 are on sale. Your chance to win the perfect Christmas present.

Patricia Ryan was last week’s match-3 winner. The numbers drawn were 16, 19, 20, 22.
