Sampson family remember and miss two loving parents

-

‘Make me a channel of your peace Where there is hatred let me bring your love Where there is injury, your pardon Lord And where there’s doubt, true faith in you’

WORDS from a favoured hymn, the ‘Prayer of St Francis’, have particular emphasis for the Sampson family at this time.

Almost exactly a year ago, they lost their father, John, on November 11th.

He was based at The Charter House, Charter House Square, London and formerly of Main Street, Duleek.

He went to London to retire, having worked in the butchers shop business for 50 years, and also working the land.

A keen businessman, he loved gardening and life.

He was a loving dad to Rosaleen, Helen, Josie, Marguerita and Lillian and is still sadly missed by his loving family, sons-in-law, his eleven grandchildren, sister Laura, brother Jim, sisters-in-law, brother in law, and the wider family.

His wife, Josephine, also passed away around this time of year four years ago, November 17, 2014.

A Moran from Ballyhaunis originally, she worked as a civil servant before her marriage.

The family remember them this week as loving parents, John, a man of good faith and wisdom and Josephine, a gentle soul who loved the Irish language, and who are deeply missed.

Josephine had a favourite song, Noreen Bawn

‘ There’s a grave-yard in Tyrconnell Where the blossoms sadly wave There’s a sorrow stricken mother Weeping o’er that lonely grave Saying Noreen, oh my Noreen It’s so lonesome since you’ve gone ‘ Twas the curse of emigration Laid you low, my Noreen Bawn.’
