James Jordan of RB Daly served in Great War

WE regret to record the death, which occured unexpected­ly yesterday ( Wed) of Mr. James Jordan. “Clovelly,” Dublin Road. Drogheda.

The deceased gentleman, who was born in Kilkenny in 1896 came to Drogheda in 1902 and was by profession an auctioneer being a senior director of Robt. B. Daly and Son Ltd., Laurence St.

During the first world war he saw service with the Royal.Dublin Fusiliers and retired with the rank of Captain.

A most popular man, he was involved with the Drogheda Operatic Society and took part in their production­s for many years.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jane Jordan, his son, Mr. James Jordan: his daughter. Mrs Lewis Garvey; brothers Messrs. William, Victor and George Jordan.

The Church Service will take place in St. Peter’s Church on Peter St. on Friday at 2 p.m.
