Neighbours help man from blaze
Drogheda Fire and Rescue service was called to a blaze in a cottage in Dowth on Sunday night, where neighbours had assisted a man to safety.
A unit from Drogheda was called around 8.30pm to assist two units from Co Meath, and they contained a fire in the sitting room of the smoke-filled house.
A spokesman said there were no recorded injuries, and the house was heavily smoke-logged, but the source of the fire appeared to be in the sitting room.
They also tackled a blaze in a disused premise in George’s Street at around midnight on Sunday.
Two units attended the fire, which was brought under control quickly. No one was in the premises at the time.
This is the second fire in a derelict building in a fornight, after a crew brought another unexplained blaze under control at around 4.30 on Monday 6th.
