Huge entry for Louth Championsh­ips in Holy Family

MORE than 250 boxers will converge on Holy Family BC in Drogheda this coming weekend to compete for honours in the annual Louth Open Championsh­ips.

The action begins on Friday evening and continues on Saturday, with the finals down for decision on Sunday.

All the county’s clubs - Tredagh, Drogheda, Dealgan, O’Hanlon Park, Clann Naofa and of course the hosts Holy Family - will be represente­d over the three days.

However, there is also big interest from across the North East and Ulster, with boxers from clubs in counties Dublin, Meath, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Armagh, Down and Fermanagh also entered into the tournament.

Boys and girls from the ages of 11 to 18 will be competing and there is also a Novice section for 19 to 40-year-olds.

Spectators are very welcome to come along and view the action, with a ticket price at the door of €5. Division 3
