FUNDRAISERS HIT THE WATER FOR THIS YEAR’S POLAR PLUNGE
THE annual Polar Plunge at Clogherhead for the Leinster Special Olympics is often described as ‘Freezin’ for a Reason’ but last Saturday it was a case of ‘ screamin’ for a reason!’
With the water temperature pretty nippy, it was only the hardened few who ventured in for more than a short dip, the majority glad to sample the Irish Sea in early December for a moment or two before dashing back to the relative comfort of the lifeboat station.
Once again, a great crowd of plungers and volunteers turned out to make the day another great success.
The TYs from Greenhills turned out in huge numbers, with their inspirational leader Mr Reilly - who was probably first into the water.
Superintendent Andrew Watters led the gardai and there were others too, the army and the ambulance service in full support.
The Bothar Brugha boys were pretty colourful, one them a big Wonder Woman fan.
