“It really brings home the impact we have, and just how important it is to keep our doors open.”

The charity, which has its local office in Magdalene Street, relies on fundraising to keep its phonelines operational.

They just received a cheque from Drogheda Credit Union for €2,500, and they are hoping more can be raised in their forthcoming drive this month.

Hit the Right Note is an event taking place on Saturday December 15th promoting positive mental health through music.

Musicians, singers, choirs, dancers and more will be performing throughout Drogheda to promote mental health awareness and raise much needed funds for SOSAD.

“This is going to be a massive all-day busking event, and we think there’ll be a great atmosphere in the town, like a mini-Fleadh,” she explains.

“We’re working closely with Declan Power in the Barbican and Kelly Kierans, and we have lots of traders on board to provide refreshments, and we’ve had bands and singers from Dublin and Newry contact us wanting to join in.”

SOSAD is currently looking for volunteers to assist with the fundraising element of the event. They will be positioned in a variety of locations around the town (near to the performers) and rostered on two-hour shifts.

“This is such an important fundraising, as well as awareness-raising event, as this time of the year can be difficult for a lot of people.

“If anyone is feeling the pressure, SOSAD can be contacted on 041 984 8754.
