An­nual Barn­dance raises €30,000 for On­col­ogy Unit

The On­col­ogy Unit in Our Lady of Lour­des Hos­pi­tal was de­lighted to wel­come Michael and Agnes Fox to the Unit re­cently, where they pre­sented a cheque to NECRET on be­half of the Fox and Kerins Fam­i­lies who or­ga­nize the na­tion­ally fa­mous Kil­moon Barn­dance.

Speak­ing at the pre­sen­ta­tion where an in­cred­i­ble €30,000 was do­nated to NECRET for the pur­poses of Clin­i­cal Can­cer Re­search Pro­fes­sor Bryan Hen­nessy ex­pressed his great ap­pre­ci­a­tion to the two fam­i­lies for their im­mense gen­eros­ity in sup­port­ing NECRET’s cause and how with­out such sup­port the ma­jor strides that were be­ing made in ad­vanc­ing can­cer treat­ments would not be pos­si­ble.

The 2018 Event saw a to­tal of €74,800 do­nated also to var­i­ous other char­i­ties with the Oe­sophageal Can­cer Fund (re­ceiv­ing €15,000) and Meath Pal­lia­tive Care, Pros­per Meath (Spe­cial Needs), SOSAD, Brother Kevin’s Ca­puchin Cen­tre and Meath River Res­cue (each re­ceiv­ing €5,000).

The Laf­fey Trust and RNLI Clogher­head re­ceived €4,000 and €800, re­spec­tively.

NECRET and the On­col­ogy Unit in Our Lady of Lour­des Hos­pi­tal in­vite those cur­rently or pre­vi­ously at­tend­ing the Unit to their An­nual Ser­vice of Hope on Fri­day De­cem­ber 14th at 1pm in the West­court Ho­tel.
