THE AGM is taking place this Thursday night December 6th, starting at 8pm in the clubhouse. All members and intending members welcome.
MANY tributes were paid to Noel Connolly at our annual general meeting. Noel stood down as chairman having been in the post for five years. During his time the club competed at the very top, winning promotion from intermediate and reaching the senior final.
Plans were also put in place for improvements to Pairc na nGaeil, and it was on the day before the meeting that work began on the project which is expected to be completed before the beginning of next season.
Noel thanked all who had helped and supported him since he succeeded Niall Lambert. He urged members to get involved in the different projects the club had in mind for the new season, and to help out in whatever way they can.
Taking over as chairman is Dick O’Callaghan, who was in the post twice in previous years, the first time in the 1980s.
The meeting was one of the best attended in recent years, with many contributions from the floor. Treasurer, Alan Martin, presented a very detailed report, which showed the club to be in a sound financial position.

The club extends is sympathy to the family of the late Patrick Hughes, Bothar na Feirme, Black. Paddy, formerly from Hughes’ Park, was closely associated with the club in his youth.
THE club held the AGM in the clubrooms on Monday 26 November and there was a great turn out.
Barry McDermott chaired the meeting and began by welcoming everyone and pausing for a moments reflection to remember recently deceased members and family members.
The meeting included reports from the chaiman, secretary and treasurer and robust discussions on the health of the club and highlighting recent success with the first team. There was a lengthy discussion on the challenges being faced by all clubs with regard to declining youth numbers.

THE AGM took place on Wednesday 21st November in the clubhouse and was well attended. Our local Schools Incentive Programme continues this Friday in St. Oliver’s Blackrock. Great feedback so far from both staff and children. The Leinster 40x20 championships wìll begin the first week in January 2019 and club players should note that our 40x20 training at Gormanston College sports complex continues every Thursday night.
The Leinster GAA handball convention will take place on Sunday 13th January at the Courtyard hotel Lexlip Co Kildare. Our juvenile handball coaching for boys and girls continues every Friday night. All present at the AGM agreed that there was a huge amount of activities happening in the club and that it was a great endorsement of the work been done by all our volunteers. The club could look ahead with optimism to the coming year and it is hoped all members, players and supporters will continue to get behind the club as we strive to further develop our facilities and grow our club.
County Board Chairman Des Halpenny was asked to address the meeting and spoke of the exciting times ahead for the club with the development of the new facilities at Ballybailie which will be a fantastic addition to the club and to the entire local community. He also spoke of the honour for the club in been selected from over 2500 clubs nationwide to participate in the GAA’s Healthy Club Project which strives to put the club at the ‘Heart of the Community’.
