Karen leads way as Dunleer take the title

THE Dunleer AC ladies team finished the season on a high, winning the Louth Masters Club team competitio­n in Togher on Sunday, adding to the their senior win in November.

Karen Costello continued to dominate the women’s athletics scene with another convincing win and her clubmates Nicola Welsh (3rd) and Dearbhla Greene (4th) combined with Sandra Doheny to take the team title with Grace Foley providing excellent back-up.

The mens team finished third with Ray Hughes leading the side home, followed by Niall Campbell, Ian Carroll and Tommy Sheils.

Elsewhere Garry Campbell will don his first major Internatio­nal vest representi­ng Ireland.

Garry was named on a strong Irish U23 team heading to the Netherland­s for this years European Cross Country Championsh­ips on December 9th. Garry has had the best year of his career so far, recently winning the Louth senior cross country championsh­ips and topping it off with an excellent run at the National Championsh­ips in Abbottstow­n last weekend.
