Karen leads way as Dun­leer take the ti­tle

THE Dun­leer AC ladies team fin­ished the sea­son on a high, win­ning the Louth Mas­ters Club team com­pe­ti­tion in Togher on Sun­day, adding to the their se­nior win in Novem­ber.

Karen Costello con­tin­ued to dom­i­nate the women’s ath­let­ics scene with another con­vinc­ing win and her club­mates Ni­cola Welsh (3rd) and Dearbhla Greene (4th) com­bined with San­dra Do­heny to take the team ti­tle with Grace Fo­ley pro­vid­ing ex­cel­lent back-up.

The mens team fin­ished third with Ray Hughes lead­ing the side home, fol­lowed by Niall Camp­bell, Ian Car­roll and Tommy Sheils.

Else­where Garry Camp­bell will don his first ma­jor In­ter­na­tional vest rep­re­sent­ing Ire­land.

Garry was named on a strong Ir­ish U23 team head­ing to the Nether­lands for this years Euro­pean Cross Coun­try Cham­pi­onships on De­cem­ber 9th. Garry has had the best year of his ca­reer so far, re­cently win­ning the Louth se­nior cross coun­try cham­pi­onships and top­ping it off with an ex­cel­lent run at the Na­tional Cham­pi­onships in Ab­bottstown last week­end.
