- By ALISON COMYN Damian and Pauline Clarke at the Tweetup

THE second #LouthChat Tweetup held in the beautiful surroundings of No. Three Old Bar & Restaurant recently was a resounding success, with many businesses and organisations from all over the county gathering to network.

The group has been gaining popularity in bucketloads since it started almost four years ago, and every Tuesday night, they light up Twitter between 8pm and 9pm, connecting local entrepreneurs.

Initiated by Maureen Ward in December 2014, it has its own Twitter account @ LouthChat and people can also get their tweets retweeted by using the #LouthChat hashtag during the week, as retweets are sent out to over 10,000 more followers by team #LouthChat.

For example, a recent Starbiz (featured business) had a reach of 172,000. 67 different individuals participated during the hour, generating 3,300 tweets, reaching audiences in Ireland, the UK and US.

‘ This is the second Tweet-up we’ve had (a Twitter Meet-up), and it was great for people to put faces to names they might only see on Twitter,” said Maureen.

“Those using #LouthChat “get it” and they never forget that business is about people and that those behind the Twitter accounts are also potential clients.

There were 15 elevator pitches at the event, with people like Carmel McCarthy EMS & Associates, Gráinne Berrill from the Louth Volunteer Centre, Jane Kerr from Me Time Training, Marina Branigan Brava Virtual, Ross Kenny Boyne Boats and Dave Kavanagh Financial Companion making good use of two minutes to promote their services.

Sarah Gardiner from Blue Duck Marketing in Dunleer was keynote speaker, and guests were all treated to lovely appetisers courtesy of Wayne and Martina Fitzpatrick.

Anyone can join into the Louth Chat, anytime of the week, by adding #LouthChat to your tweet.
