Male voice choir put on a show

-

THE Monasterboice Inn was the place to be last Friday night as St. Peter’s Male Voice Choir, along with Musical Director Edward Holly, began their Christmas concerts with a fundraising performance in aid of St. Paul’s National School in Walshestown.

The new Olivia Macken suite was packed out for the night to hear them, accompanied by their live band and soloist Claire Regan, as they performed a number of tracks from their brand new CD “Happy Together”, including a stirring rendition of Elvis’ “An American Trilogy” and the choir’s iTunes chart-topping hit “Noreen Bawn”, along with a selection of well-loved Yuletide favourites. Santa himself even dropped in towards the end of the show, just as the choir launched into his favourite song “Santa Claus is Coming’ to Town”.

Choir PRO Anthony Moore said “Donegan’s was an absolutely super venue for the show and the atmosphere on the night was electric. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were delighted to help St. Paul’s to raise funds for much-needed traffic calming measures on the busy road adjacent to the school. All being well, they will be put in place next year and will help to keep the schoolchildren safe and sound!”

“On behalf of everyone involved in the choir, I’d like to thank all those involved with St. Paul’s for their invaluable help in organising the show, including the principal, Anne Marie Swinburne, and especially too Denise McEvoy, Denise Laffey, Nicola Hardy, Laura McMahon, Yuki Kelly, Sally Ann Rea, Cathriona Healy and Lucy Campbell. Thanks are also due to Roseanne Donegan and Karl Murphy in Donegan’s for all their wonderful hospitality on the night and we certainly look forward to being back with them in the future for further nights of music and song.”

The choir’s new show “Ring those Christmas Bells” will be performed in St. Peter’s R.C. Church, West Street on Friday, 7th December, 2018 at 8 p.m. and in the Barbican Centre, William Street on Saturday, 8th December, 2018 at 8 p.m.
