Ricky’s new book is a true classic

RICHARD Gerrard presents his latest book ‘Industries and places of employment of old and not so old Drogheda’ on Wednesday December 12th at 7pm in the Augustinia­n Church.

The launch will be a great night and patrons who have pre-booked their copies can collect on the night. The book can also be purchased on the night.

It runs to three volumes and took a number of years to research, but the end result in a true classic and a real celebratio­n of everything Drogheda over the decades.

Ricky has left no stone unturned in his desire to tell the story of people and places.

His detail is stunning and the array of names, incredible - Maud Keery, Jimmy Mulroy, Tom Hodgins, Dermot Finglas, Bea Orpen, Michael Quinn, Josephine Blacoe, living in Millmount Square, Willie Healy, the Drogheda Corporatio­n workers, the phone exchange, the history of the Argus newspaper, the Lourdes Hospital, Aggie O’Brien, the story of Mosney and the Drogheda Independen­t.

Then there’s Michael Reilly, Donaghy’s Mill, Peter Lyons, Robert Usher, the Marsh Road... the list just goes on and on from decade to decade.
