Louth Meath mental health services launch new handbooks
TWO new mental health education and information handbooks for service users and family members are being rolled out by Louth Meath Mental Health services.
The handbooks have been prepared by EOLAS, the national program which delivers 8 week courses for people who experience Psychosis, Schizophrenia and Bi-Polar Affective Disorder. EOLAS also delivers a program for the family members/supporters of those who experience these mental health problems. The EOLAS program started in 2010 and is now available to access in over half of the HSE mental health services across the country. The program is a partnership between the HSE Mental Health Services, Kildare Youth Services and Trinity College Dublin.
Louth/Meath Mental Health services have been delivering EOLAS for the past 3 years and it is accessible through Multi-Disciplinary Teams.
The EOLAS program recently launched their new participants’ handbooks which are very recovery focused and a great guide for both Service Users and their Family members. These new handbooks will further enhance the EOLAS educational program.
EOLAS moves beyond traditional psycho education programmes in harnessing the “lived experience” of the Service Users and Family members themselves to inspire participants to find new ways of achieving recovery.
