Top internatio­nal award for Emma

FORMER Our Lady’s College student, Emma Branigan, a DCU Applied Physics graduate, has been awarded the prestigiou­s Honours Degree Award of the Internatio­nal Society of Automation (ISA) Annual Awards 2018.

This is awarded, on the nomination of any third-level institutio­n, to the best fourth-year Honours Degree student studying any area of Automation, Instrument­ation or Control in Ireland.

Emma’s Final Year Project was entitled ‘ The developmen­t of a high-resolution signal acquisitio­n system applied to optical touch detection’ in collaborat­ion with the company Rapt Touch and Prof. Colette McDonagh as Emma’s DCU supervisor.

The ISA Ireland Section will be making the presentati­on to Emma at their Annual Honours and Awards Ceremony in University College Cork on Wednesday 12th December

Emma (22) now works as an optical engineer with Rapt Touch.
