Sally the surprise packets in cup

SALLY Inn produced the shock result of the weekend in the Fosters Duleek & District League’s Tom Grimes Cup when they dumped out the Premier pace-setters Greyhound in the first round.

The Slane outfit are joint bottom of the table with just one win from seven games, but they stunned the league leaders with a superb display to take their place in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, there was league action in the lower divisions last Friday and there’s now a threeway tie for top spot in Division 2 following wins for Foxs and Valley Inn who have joined Black & White Thatch on 10 points.

Railway Bar convincingly won the meeting of the top two teams in Division 3 and they’ve now joined beaten opponents Mariner B at the summit.

After this Friday’s cup games for Division 2 and 3 teams all teams will enter into the Christmas break which lasts until January 4th for the two lower divisions and January 11th for teams in the Premier and First divisions.

Dates have also been announced for the annual League Singles competition. It takes place on Sunday February 10th in the Westcourt Hotel, Drogheda, and the deadline for entries is Thursday 7th, with the draw that night in the Carranstown, Duleek, at 8.30pm.
