Oliver Harding accepts league cup

MR. Eddie Colfer, hon. secretary; welcomed the largo attendance to the annual social and dinner organised by Slane G.F.C. in the local Conyngham Arms Hotel, recently.

He remarked that the dub did not do as well as in the previous year, but they still had two trophies and two sets of medals to present to their members.

He paid tribute to Mr. M. McKeever, Fennor. and Lord Mount Charles, Slane Castle, for having fields available to the club for matches.

Mr. Colfer presented the Factory League Trophy to Mr. Oliver Harding. who had won it with Slane Textiles, the club attached to Slane Manufactur­ing Co. Ltd.

Mr. H. M. Johnston, Co.C, said that the club kept going in good times and bad.

The local people should also be proud of the Meath side which had performed so well in Australia, said Mr. Johnston, and were particular­ly pleased that a man from the area, Mick Whyte, Rathkenny, had been included in the party.

Mr. George Blake, the local turf accountant, presented the beautiful trophy which he had put up for competitio­n, to the captain of the Slane team, Mr. Larry Kearns. He also presented a fine set of medals to the following members of the team : Messrs. Larry Kearns. Nicholas Kealy, Eamonn Harding, Oliver Harding, Jim Conway, P. J. Mooney, Harold Smith, Kit Doggett, Thomas Harding, Michael McMenamon, Anthony Johnston, Mick Smith, Jim Mooney, Francis Conmy, Dermot Wogan, Richard Kearns, Dessie Moore. Francis Briody, Kevin Harding, Eddie Colfer, Michael Moore, Joseph Govern and Anthony Harding.

Mr. H. M. Johnston, Co.C, presented a trophy won in a Syddan tournament, to Mr. Eamonn Harding, while medals won in the same competitio­n were presented to Messrs. Eamonn Harding. Nicholas Kealy, Oliver Harding, Anthony Harding, P. J. Mooney, Kit Doggett, Jim Mooney, Harry Smith, Kevin Harding, Michael McMenamon, Thomas Harding, Tony Johnston, Larry Kearns, Eddie Colfer, Mick Smith, Michael Flood, Richie Kearns, Frank Briody and Dessie Moore.
