THE 19-year-old Dunleer A.C. wizard Charles Breagy set a new record for the N.A.C.A. junior under-20 grade at provincial level when he won the Leinster four-mile race over his home course on Sunday, covering the heavy ground in 22.04 to beat clubmate Tom Donaghy by 16 seconds with Tom Cunning, Father Murphy (Meath) third.

The latter was the only man to break up Louth’s scoring six who were in the first seven home, Dunleer, of course, retained the club title.

This was Breacy’s fourth successive individual win and the fifth time in a row to lead his county and club fo the double. His record reads: 1974, 3rd; 1975/76/77/78, 1st.

Harry Smith, another local, made light his job when from a large field he came home well clear of Dunboyne man Peter Keegan to win his first provincial title, veterans over 35 and lead Louth to the team title with Fintan McQuaid in 3rd place. Leinster secretary Jimmy Hughes had a great win in the veterans over 40. Gerard Dunne made it three individual wins for Dunleer when he took the boys u-16 title run over a 3,000 metres course.

Eliz McCabe, Bros. Pearse, Dublin, was always in control in the girls u-16, but Louth and Dunleer took the team, events, both being led home by Sandra Carrie in 3rd place. The president of the Leinster Council, Mr. Larry McGuill, presented the prize and thanked the land owner, Mr. V. Matthews.
