DIFFERENCE, dissonance, protest and diversity offer the themes for Highlanes Gallery’s New Year’s Children’s Workshops where children aged 5-13 years can explore the current exhibition Crossing Lines as part of a facilitate­d practical workshop that involves looking, thinking, reflecting and making as key.

On Thursday 3rd January at 11.30-1pm, and again from 2pm-3.30pm, join artist Claire Halpin in Banter & Banners which focusing on the idea of rights and standing up for your rights. We will have a chat about children’s and young people’s rights and explore the use of words, language, signs, symbols, shapes and colour to express our rights. Using these ideas they will design and create individual large banners using a range of materials and techniques.

On Friday 4th, children can join facilitato­r Julie Duhy in Protest - Wearable Art Workshop, inspired by artist Ross Sinclair’s T-Shirt Installati­on, children will use fabric paint & a plain white t-shirt as their starting point, as they explore the themes within the Crossing Lines exhibition.. There are four sessions in total with each session charged at €8 per child, and all which can be booked on Eventbrite.
