Singing star Amie Dyer takes centre stage at her 21st celebration

- By ALISON COMYN

HER voice has matured to that of a worldclass soprano, so it is hard to believe that Amie Dyer has just celebrated her 21st birthday.

But that’s exactly what the Rathmullen Park woman did over the festive period, with 25 of her closest family and friends.

The Black Bull played host to the meal, and Amie says they did a brilliant job of making her milestone birthday extra special.

“They were fantastic, and we had a really lovely meal, and couldn’t have looked after us better,” she told the Drogheda Independent.

“Even the Drogheda Male Voice Choir had left a bouquet up there for me, as well as posting the most wonderful video singing happy birthday to me on Facebook, so I was already in tears before the night began!”

A second-year master’s student in the Royal Academy of Music in Dublin, Amie’s mam and dad Jackie and Paul were there to celebrate with her, along with her others greatest fans, Nana Frances and Grandad Eamon, and Granda Ted.

“They are all such a great support to me, and it was great to have them there, as well as my closest friends Orlaith Mulholland, Shauna O’Connor, Ciara Nolan and Sarah Noone, and of course my boyfriend JP Kierans.”

2019 should be another great year for Amie, whose singing career is going from strength to strength.

A video of her singing ‘ O Holy Night’ at the recent Drogheda Male Voice Choir Christmas Concert in the TLT was sent to the Mirror newspaper and went viral on their website.

“I don’t know exactly how many views it got, but at one stage it was around 15,000 so it’s amazing to think so many people saw it,” she adds.

“I will be starting to give all types of singing lessons in the new year as well, so I am really looking forward to that too.”

After a beautiful meal in the Black Bull, Amie and her friends headed to Earth Niteclub to dance the night away.

Even her mum and godmother Sandra Caffrey went along for a boogie.

But did the night end with a song? “Definitely not!” says the birthday girl with a laugh!
