The Lannleire and District Active Retirement Group certainly lived up to their name over the festive period, with a trip to Dublin to see comedian June Rogers, as well as a successful Christmas party night. Following their annual mass in St. Brigid’s Church on Wednesday December 19th, the members proceeded down to the hall where a beautiful meal was laid out for them, organised by Paddy and Kitty Bowden.
After the meal, the members had Christmas raffles and Paddy and Kitty presented everyone with a Christmas gift!
“It was a great night, and it was wonderful to see so many members turn out for an evening of fun and music,” said PRO Theresa Clare.
“As well as all the committee members involved, we wanted to say a big thank you to all the young people who helped out during the night.”
Kay McGovern presented a bouquet of flowers and a voucher for Donegan’s Bar & Restaurant to Paddy and Kitty, and on behalf of all the members she expressed their thanks for all the time and energy they put into the running of the association, which is most appreciated by all.
The group would like to express their sincere thanks to Andrew, Yvonne, Irene, Emily & Jill, who with their hard work made the party such an enjoyable evening for everyone, and for the last 13 years.
Kitty wished all a Happy Christmas and every good wish for the New Year. She also thanked John Flood for the lovely music he provided and Fr. Murtagh for the use of the hall for the meetings throughout the year.
The group had a very successful year and were just back from a visit to Rathfarnham to see June Rogers, one of several events throughout the year.
Kitty added that she is looking forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting on the 16th of January 2019, in St. Brigid’s hall. New members are always welcome. For further information please contact 0416851279.
