-

A special Brexit Breakfast Briefing organised by Drogheda & District Chamber was hosted by Coca- Cola International Services at their South Gate offices on Thursday last, sponsored by AIB.

A packed audience heard Peter Legge, Partner at the Belfast office of Grant Thornton give an update on current Brexit developments and likely implications. He was joined by his colleagues Lee Squires and Lorraine Nelson, who spoke about indirect tax and some practical case studies. The attendance included John McGrane, Director General of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce and Thomas McEvoy Head of Louth LEO who also participated in a Question & Answer session afterwards.

“It is clear there is an urgent and ongoing need for our members and the wider business community to continue to prepare thoroughly for Brexit, with the UK due to leave the EU in the near future” said Shona Mc Manus, President of the Drogheda & District Chamber. Shona urged local businesses to avail of the various online Government information sources including the Revenue Commissioners and the https:// www.prepareforbrexit.com/ website.

“There will be ‘unknown unknowns’, but good preparation will help ensure our member businesses don’t suffer any critical impacts,” concluded Shona, who thanked Grant Thornton, Coca- Cola and AIB for supporting the event.

The next Drogheda Chamber diary date is a Speed Networking event on Thursday February 14th hosted by The Mill Enterprise Centre and sponsored by M1 Skillnet.
