Bail hearing in €1m drugs case adjourned

-

A 37-year-old woman charged in connection with the seizure of almost €1 million-worth of drugs, has had a bail hearing adjourned after Judge Coughlan ruled the matter was not properly before him.

Natalie Chiper, Tullyard, Ballymakenny, Drogheda, is accused of possession of cannabis herb, valued €940,000, for sale or supply at The Whitehouse, Tullyard, Ballymakenny and simple possession of the drugs on 23 January last.

She had been remanded in custody with consent to high court bail.

Last week, Dundalk court heard high court bail was fixed on 5 February, and that two independent sureties were present.

However, a garda dealing with the case said he did not have sufficient notice.

The two people prepared to go as sureties are originally from Moldova, and enquiries to Interpol would take 72 hours.

The judge adjourned the application to Drogheda Court on 22 February.
