Time to get the Viaduct lights on
Sinn Féin Councillor Kenneth Flood has described the lights on the Viaduct as a “delight for visitors and residents alike” and has welcomed the news that steps have been taken to have them turned back on this week.
Cllr. Flood said “The lights on the Viaduct Drogheda illuminates the historic bridge and the changing colours really brightening the place up. But after last year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann when our many thousands of visitors got to enjoy the lights, they were switched off without warning or explanation. Since then we have asked who was responsible for the lights and when they could be turned back on.”
Cllr Flood said “I received confirmation that Louth County Council and Irish Rail will be meeting on site this week to see what is needed to get the lights repaired and that is very welcome news for the aesthetics of our town. Hopefully we will see the historic Viaduct lit up green for St. Patricks Day this year.”
Cllr Flood has promised to “take nothing for granted and I will follow up on this issue until the lights are back functioning properly and are there to be enjoyed by the people of Drogheda.”
