Path needed from Ra th mullen Road to Boy ne Board walk

-

Fianna Fáil’s Drogheda Urban local election candidate Anthony Moore has slated the lack of a footpath connecting the Rathmullen Road with the Boyne boardwalk.

He said “The Boyne boardwalk is one of the most scenic spots in Drogheda. People living on the Rathmullen Road, especially in Riverbank and Highlands estates, use it every day to exercise and take their children and pets for a walk.

‘18 years after those estates went up, it is simply farcical that no footpath has been built to connect the Rathmullen Road with the boardwalk, making it very unsafe for pedestrians. Residents have spoken to me about this and are very frustrated”.

Moore blamed lack of cooperation between Louth and Meath Co. Councils for this, saying:

‘ The road in question forms the boundary between Louth and Meath Co. Councils. Unfortunately, experience shows there’s more chance of cooperation between North and South Korea than between the two Councils. Wherever this boundary occurs in Drogheda, it creates bureaucratic stalemate and stops much-needed works being done.”

He demanded immediate action from Louth County Council, saying “A footpath on this road is long overdue. Louth County Council must now press ahead with its construction unilaterally, and connect the Boyne boardwalk to the people of our town at long last”.
