Mary A Kelly’s ‘CHAIR’ opens in the Highlanes

-

HIGHLANES Gallery was a buzz of excitement at the opening of its latest exhibition by artist Mary A.Kelly simply titled CHAIR, as friends, other artists and supporters, curators and the general public gathered to hear the opening in conversation with the artist and American writer and critic David Galloway.

There was great interest in the work which was a new departure for this Irish artist. Mary A.Kelly’s interest in the project started many years ago while taking part in a group psychotherapy process, and her work has the intention of creating a pause or resting point for both the artist and viewer. Initiated and curated by Highlanes Gallery, the exhibition has been sponsored by Anglo Printers, and awarded an Arts Council Touring and Dissemination Award.

Chair will continue at Highlanes Gallery until mid-April with an accompanying programme of lectures talks and workshops before touring to the Custom House Studios in Westport for the month of June, before finally ending its Irish tour at Uillinn, West Cork Arts Centre in Skibbereen.
