Naps make net gains
NA PIARSAIGH LANNLEIRE 3-7 0-9
TWO sides with high aspirations for the year ahead met on Saturday night and despite a number of regular players from both teams absent, a well contested game was played, with the home side’s ability to find the net proving the difference.
Na Piarsaigh led 1-3 to 0-5 at the interval, their goal coming mid-way through the half from David Egan. Lannleire stayed in touch courtesy of some fine long-range points from centre forward, Paul Callan.
The game was effectively decided in the opening ten minutes of the second period when Na Piarsaigh bagged two “majors” from David Boyle and Eamonn McAuley. Lannleire were further hampered by a couple of injuries in the second half whilst luck proved elusive during the game, with the wood-work denying them on a couple of occasions with only a point resulting.
