STABANNON PARNELLS WESTERNS 2-12 2-10

STABANNON Parnells staged a late rally to claim a two-point victory over Westerns in the Kevin Mullen Shield on Saturday evening.

In what proved to be a well-contested game it was Stabannon who had the better of the game early on. However, the visitors got a foothold when Peter Shields scored the first goal of the game to help his side lead by 1-5 to 0-6 at half time.

It was looked even better for the Reaghstown side when Liam Hoey added a second goal and at that stage they were on course for victory.

However, Stabannon refused to give up and goals from Barry Sweeney and David Cluskey saw the come out on top.
