Junior Doubles final pairings are confirmed

-

THERE was great excitement for the semi-finals of the Greenhills Junior Doubles Championship played over nine ends last Tuesday night.

The first semi final pitted Caitlin Floyd and Leo Mc Donnell against Chloe Dykstra who was competing alone in the absence of her partner.

Chloe recovered from a shaky start to open a threeshot lead leaving Caitlin and Leo somewhat shell-shocked. However, they settled down well and got back back on level terms in the seventh end. That proved to be the turning point and Caitlin and Leo continued to produce some impressive bowls to book their place in the final with a three-shot win.

In the second semi-final Megan Devin and Lauren Dykstra were hot favourites to see off Robert Mc Cormack and Diarmuid Loughman, but it was close throughout with just two shots separating the sides after four ends.

Megan and Lauren’s experience gradually began to show as they opened a two-shot lead, but Robert and Diarmuid dug deep and turned the match on its head to take the lead with two ends remaining.

However, Megan and Lauren responded like true pros and regained the lead heading into the last end and their experience showed in the crucial final end as they clinched a four-shot victory and a place in the final against Caitlin and Leo on February 19th.

Any members wishing to travel to the Cooley Open pairs between 25th February and 1st March, please put your name on the club noticeboard.
