Arc Cinema turning your popcorn into donations!

-

FOR many, a trip to cinema is a well-earned escape from reality for an hour or two, and wouldn’t we all love that right now!

In the absence of a night at the flicks, the Arc Cinema has launched an initiative to raise as much money for local charities as possible during the lockdown, and in the first week, a whopping €800 has been raised in total for local charities.

“It’s not just businesses that are suffering, I’ve been told by countless charities that donations and supports are considerably down too,” says cinema manager Shane Faulkner.

“With this in mind, we launched “Crazy Tuesday: Home Edition” where every Tuesday, we open The Arc Cinema for two hours (4pm – 6pm) for people to collect a regular popcorn and a regular drink. And the best part of it is, it costs €4 but all profits go to local charities.”

The drive was only launched last week but they raised €400 on Tuesday May 19th in sales and the team matched that amount, meaning €800 was donated in the first week.

“Not too shabby,” he laughed. “We hope to run this over the next few weeks and build it up to a couple of thousand euros to share out to three or four local charities. We’re asking our Facebook followers to nominate their chosen charities and those with the most mentions will get a share.”
