New Tapit app to add to the local shopping trade

-

TAPIT, a new app developed by Tapit Labs Limited to reward shoppers for shopping local, is on its way to Drogheda with a release date of 25th July.

Two young entrepreneurs, Garrett Gunn and Gavin Duffy , have created a platform that rewards shoppers and helps retailers promote their business.

They are launching their platform in Drogheda, prior to a nationwide release. Drogheda & District Chamber say they are delighted to support this innovative platform and their launch plans.

Tapit is a rewards programme for shoppers with a difference. Firstly, cash rewards are gathered straight-away. There’s no waiting for points to turn into vouchers. Secondly, there is no need to search bags, pockets or wallets looking for your card to get stamped or swiped. It happens automatically.

This makes Tapit an easy way for retailers to reward loyalty and shoppers to show their loyalty to local shops as the recovery gets under way.

“We wanted to create a rewards programme for shoppers that was accessible for everyone. No frantically digging around your bag or checking points for the little card.” said Garrett Gunn, Co-Founder of Tapit.

“We also wanted to make it attractive to retailers. There’s no additional training with this initiative. Retailers have another platform to advertise on, one they don’t pay for until a transaction is made. It’s win-win for everyone, particularly as we begin to open up after our lockdown.”

How it works is easy. A shopper downloads the app on their smartphone. Debit or Credit card details are securely entered into the app. All payment card details entered are encrypted and stored securely. When a shopper shops in one of the stores on the app, they get a notification to say a cash amount has been deposited into their Tapit account.

The shops and businesses around Drogheda Town Centre that will start on the app on launch date include Scholars Townhouse Hotel, The Design Gallery, Five Good Things, Tuites Butchers, The Crafty Fox, Fifty4 Seafood Bar, The Golf Bag, Peter Street Pharmacy, Kierans’ Deli, Kevin McAllister Electrical, West End Salon, Scotch Hall Shopping Centre (gift cards) and Brian Reynolds Mazda & Fiat.

“It’s important to shop local.” said Robert Murray, Vice President of the Drogheda & District Chamber. “If we want our local town to have shops, as a community, we need to support them. This is a great initiative to support retailers as they begin to open their doors and it’s a win for customers too. That’s why we’re behind the July launch of this app. It’s clever shopping.”

The app launches in July and anyone wanting to register their interest, as either a retailer or a shopper, can visit https://tapit.ie and add your name to the waitlist.
