McEntee handed two-month ban

-

A TWO-MONTH suspension was imposed on Gerry McEntee following his dismissal after just six minutes of the All-Ireland final replay against Cork.

The suspension was handed down by the Games Administration Committee of the GAA, meaning that the Nobber clubman missed the opening half of the National

Football League campaign

McEntee had been reported for striking with the hand by referee Tommy Sugrue, in an incident which saw Cork defender Niall Cahalane hit the deck.

The player attended the hearing accompanied by County Board chairman Fintan Ginnity and Meath team manager Sean

Boylan. The members of the committee met for almost two hours before making their decision, during which time they heard from McEntee, Fintan Ginnity and Boylan.

After the hearing McEntee did not make any comment, but Boylan said: ‘The player had already apologised for his action.’
