Tolan and McKee welcome bus stops

LOCAL Fine Gael

Councillor, Sharon

Tolan (right) says she has secured a further three bus shelters in the Laytown-Bettystown

Municipal District.

Following the delivery last year of new bus shelters for

Laytown and Bettystown, Tolan has been working with the NTA and Meath

County Council to identify further locations for the much-needed bus shelters.

“I am delighted to let the people of

Mornington and

South Drogheda know that new bus shelters will be delivered on both sides of the road at Coney

Hall in Mornington, and on the northbound carriageway at Deepforde, South Drogheda. I am disappointed not to have secured more, there were 26 on my list, however, with Covid-19 restrictions, a full site survey could not be carried out at every location. These other bus stops will remain on the list for next year, and I will do all I can to ensure they are delivered in the next tranche of shelters. We are doing all we can to encourage people to use public transport, and the service has much improved over the last 12 months, it is important that bus users have some comfort while they wait at their stops.”

Fianna Fail Councillor, Stephen McKee is also delighted with the new bus shelters on the Dublin Road at Deepforde and at Coney Hall, Mornington.

Cllr McKee said: ‘I am pleased that following representation I have been making on behalf of local residents over a period of time now to both Meath County Council and the NTA, that both Deepforde and Coney Hall have been chosen as locations for new bus shelters. Bus shelters are needed at both locations which are quite busy bus stops.

‘Residents need to be able to access high quality public transport services. I will continue working on the inclusion of more locations in our area as part of the bus shelter rollout programme.’
