NATIONAL SPRING CLEAN

‘Better late than never’, it has been announced by An Taisce that National Spring Clean will go ahead starting on Monday 8th June.

They will be advising further in relation to Covid related safety measures, ie; no more than 4 participants working together, social distancing measures, gloves, sanitiser etc.

The Local Authority will forward further information in due course. If you wish to undertake a clean up in your area, the Council continue to provide the waste collection service through Panda Waste, and pickers, gloves and bags are available from the Recycling Centres. In the meantime, thanks to those who continue to keep their roads clean and litter free throughout the District, stay safe and well!

FAIRY DOORS

A significant number of “Fairy Doors” are to be seen around the area in recent times. These colourful, minature doors are attached to trees or other structures. They can be used to encourage children’s imaginative play and creative thinking. There is plenty of information about Fairy Doors available, including how to make them and how to attach them safely. An ideal family activity, where everyone can get involved.

OLD GAMES

Remember the Egg and Spoon Races! Well, one modern day version is the Spud and Spoon Race, which can be great fun for Families when fun is in short supply. The Sack Race is another activity, while the Three-Legged Race is yet another one that was popular years ago. Remember the Slow Bicycle Race. Why not dust down the old Dart and Ring Boards. These games will improve the mental arithmetic in leaps and bounds. The old games provided entertainment years ago at little or no cost to participants. Think about it!
