Clogher fishermen have lost a fine colleague in the death of Mr. Stephen Matthews, 13 McCooey Terrace. He was only in his late thirties and leaves a wife and three daughters.

A fine footballer in his earlier days, and a keen supporter at all times, Stephen was skipper and owner of the “Unity” trawler which concentrated on sprat fishing, a way of life which he had to give up when struck down by an illness last June. The esteem in which he was held was reflected in the very large cortage for his funeral, which took place locally.
