Vinny Brennan in top gear - all weekend!

- By JACK CORRY

MORNINGTON--BASED motorcycling star Vinny Brennan is a very busy man!

Vinny won the Junior Support race at Cookstown last year, and this year he was armed with a 750 Suzuki for the Senior Support class, sponsored by Killalane resident and bike fan Eoin McMahon, and his company Eoin McMahon Carpentry and Construction.

He duly went out and won his race. He took part in the Supertwin race that was race three and finished in a very respectable fifth, despite electrical problems - and then he had to rush home for his daughter’s Communion.

Then on the Sunday it was the turn of the latest member of the Brennan family, Esme, who had her christening!

‘It was a busy weekend alright and while the 750 was going great the Supertwin was giving the bother.

‘She wouldn’t start at first, and then we found that the launch control wasn’t disengaging, so I had to shove it straightaway into second gear when the flag dropped, so we couldn’t get the start we wanted.

‘But look, I am happy with that result considering the company that was in the race. We then had to rush home as the Cookstown club had given me permission to leave after race four, so I could get back to the Communion.

‘It was a struggle as I was a bit late, but my daughter was delighted to get the winner’s cheque from the Support race, and we had a great day. To be honest I went back to work on the Monday for a rest,’ Vinny said with a smile.
