THOUGHT FOR THE DAY.

To leave a better planet for our children we must leave better children for our planet.

COVID 19.

There are still people catching the Covid 19 virus so we all will have to be extra vigilant in keeping it away from us. We must continue with the hand washing and sanitising and especially keeping our distances when outside and not let non-family members into houses. You must be extra careful in wearing your face protection and not go near anyone who is not wearing one. We must protect ourselves and feel sorry for those who are silly and stupid in not protecting themselves.

2021 CALENDARS.

The Development Group are at present organising the Calendars for 2021 and all going well they will be ready for sale the end of the month.

BUNTING FOR THE JUNIOR FOOTBALL.

The local U14 boys’ team are playing this Wednesday evening in Darver in the Championship Final against Glyde Rangers. You are asked to put up any bunting and flags to support them in this great honour4 of playing in the Final. Kick-Off will be 7.30p.m.

DREADNOTS “DRIVE IN BINGO”

Another great night of fun at the bingo last week and many congratulations to all of you who won. The prize money at each game is very good and well worth taking part, so Dreadnots keep up the good work. Bingo is continuing Monday nights and please take note; the gates are open at 6p.m. and the first game is at 7p.m.

CEREMONIES ARE BACK ON IN THE CHURCH.

St. Michael’s and St. Peter & St. Paul’s Churches have resumed their Masses at the weekend. Please be very careful when entering the church that you only sit in the seats that have been delegated for use. This is all for your protection. Thank you.

Fr. McVeigh says the Masses privately during the week that have been requested for our departed loved ones.

WELL DONE TO YOU ALL.

It is great to see how the flowers and new flower pots have brightened up the village and I think it makes the place very clean looking. The gang who are doing all this work have to be congratulated and thanked. A little bit of weeding and deadheading the flowers brings everything up nice and fresh.

LIFEBOAT STATION.

Abiding by government advice, the Lifeboat Station is out of bounds to everyone. But, should the Lifeboat be needed for an emergency it will be launched in the usual way. There is no training for crew members at present but they already know the drill of by heart. So, that is one thing we can be sure off. As you all know, the Lifeboat need funds to keep it going and with the Covid 19 there are rules that don’t allow any fundraising. So, if you would like to donate to it you can do so by going Online, give locally or contact Padraig Rath on 087 678 4912 and he will direct and advise you what to do. Thank you.

ST. COLMCILLES PASTORAL AREA SVP.

GET WELL GREETINGS.

A speedy recovery is sent to all Parishioners who are ill, either at home, in hospital, and in the various convalescence and respite homes in the area. Sincere thanks are also extended to those who care for them there. All who work in these places caring for our loved ones all marvellous and we should not forget it.

CORONAVIRUS.

The latest Road Map – Living With COVID-19 has been published. The Government says it is not just about how we will live with COVID-19 but how we will work towards renewing social, economic and cultural life.. The Acting Chief Medical Officer says it is unfortunate that the COVID Road Map has been published at a time when the number of cases is increasing. He also highlights trends in Louth which are seen as particularly concerning. It is now all about “Community Spread” which is now the major cause of the huge increase in the number of cases on a daily basis. Already Termonfeckin has shown the highest number of cases in the County and this is frightening. Louth is at Level 2 of the COVID threat as with all counties other than Dublin but there is the potential to be elevated to a higher level should the current situation deteriorate any further. We must work under strict protocols and follow all advice and guidelines to beat this virus. Social distancing is crucial. Face Masks must be worn. Our behaviour will determine what happens. Please stay safe.

CHURCH CEREMONIES.

Masses from both Parish Churches are live streamed at churchmedia.tv The attendance limit at Mass remains at 50 and has to be followed strictly. Church leaders advise the use of facemasks given the huge increase

in the number of cases of COVID-19. Please obey the advice from stewards who will be present at all Masses which are from the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 11.30am(please note the change of time for Sunday Mass). Masses from the Church of the Assumption are on Sunday at 9.30am and Monday evening at 8pm. Weekend Anniversaries are remembered at all Masses from Friday to Monday inclusive. Tuesday and Wednesday Masses are currently broadcast via the internet only at www.termonfechinparish.ie but from October will be broadcast at St. Columcille’s Pastoral Area Oratory. Please check the Parish Bulletin or facebook page for weekly Mass schedules or details of Anniversary Masses. Eucharistic Adoration is on Monday evenings in the Church of the Immaculate Conception from 7-8pm. Baptisms are taking place in line with Government restrictions. To book baptisms, please call the Parish Office on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9am to 1pm.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION.

With the school year thrown into disarray due to COVID-19, children were unable to receive Sacraments of First Holy Communion or Confirmation. With the Schools re-opening, they also moved classes without receiving them. Glad to say it will now happen. Already half of the children in Scoil Mhuire gan Smal (Sandpit) now in 3rd class have made their First Holy Communion, having done so over the weekend. The other half will receive the Sacrament this Saturday September 26th. The children in Scoil Naomh Feichin will receive their First Holy Communion on Saturdays 3rd and 10th October. May we wish them all very enjoyable days and keep them in our prayers.

COMMUNITY GROUP.

Attempts are still underway to form a new Community Group in Termonfeckin. While the Tidy Towns volunteers do a fabulous job keeping the village neat and

tidy, there is a need to form a new group to help draw down funding to further enhance the village. Hopefully the new group will draw a cross skill set from the different groups operating within the village. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Cllr. Michelle Hall and a public meeting can be organised. Cllr. Hall can be contacted at 0861437079 or at Michelle.hall@ louthcoco.ie

The U14 Girls had a hard earned win in the Division 3 Semi-Finals, beating Mattock Rangers by 9-5 to 5-5. The U16 Girls had a 4-9 to 1-11 win over Glen Emmets and are now in the B Championship Semi-Finals.
