PATSY COLEMAN BECAME A KEEPER IN 1979

A little snippet from 1979 and I wonder, did Patsy Coleman finally retire after this game, 22 years after winning an All-Ireland medal!

‘Holders St Mary’s, suffered another damaging blow to their hopes of retaining the A.C.C. Cup (Special S.F.L.) when they went under to St Fechin’s by 2-7 to 3-1 at Termonfcckin on Sunday.

The Deesiders were minus so many regulars that Patsy Coleman, right-half on Louth’s ‘57 All-Ireland, side, came out of long retirement to fill the goalkeeping position.

Best for the winners: M. Sweeney, V. McGlew, P. Briscoc, M. McDermott, J, Mc-Donnell and T. Mullery. And for the losers: Jim Clifford, J McMullen, Denis McCoy, K. Kerr and M. Donald.

.St. Feckin’s marksmen : F. Devlin 1-4, Pat McDermott 1-0, T. O’Shea 0-2 and J. McDonnell 0-1. St. Mary’s: M. Mc-Donald 1-1, Jim Tenanty and F. Gillcspic 1-0 each.
