CARERS SAY BIG THANK YOU

The Tullyallen Carers were delighted to receive €350 from the Half Time Raffle that was held Sunday 13th September at the Drive In Bingo. They would like to say a big thank you to the organizers and the people who took part in the raffle for their very generous donation to their very worthwhile cause.

FLU SEASON APPROACHIN­G

Flu season is approachin­g and this year it is more important than ever to get vaccinated. The combinatio­n of COVID-19 and seasonal influenza is likely to further impact on our health care system, so please protect yourself and others, by getting the flu vaccine this year.

Who should get the flu vaccine? Those age 6 months to 64years.

What is new this year 2020/2021: This year the vaccinatio­n programme will be extended to include ALL children age 2-12 years, and this group (only) will receive a nasal spray flu vaccine. This vaccine will be FREE OF CHARGE to ALL 2-12 year olds regardless of whether or not they hold Medical or Doctor Visit Cards.

Tullyallen Health Centre hope to have stocks of the vaccine by the end of September and will update with the times of vaccinatio­n clinics then, please email eception@tullyallen­medical. ie with your/your child(ren’s) name(s), dates of birth and email address if you wish to be notified of our flu vaccinatio­n clinic dates and times. And finally, the Medical centre ask that when coming in to the surgery that you please wear a face covering where possible please remember to wash your hands regularly.

NEW ISOLATION REQUIREMEN­TS FOR COVID19

If a COVID19 swab result is positive you must self isolate for

a minimum of 10 days, this was previously 14 days) from the onset of symptoms. The last 5 days of which should be without fever. If not detected: Self isolate until 48 hours after resolution of symptoms (as per previous guidance). Please note these changes only apply to those who are tested for COVID19, as close contacts of positive cases must still isolate for 14 days after exposure. But if in any doubt contact your local GP surgery by phone and they will set you straight.

PARISH NEWS

Public Masses have resumed Tuesday, Thursday at 9am. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday masses are at 7.30pm and Sunday masses are at 8.30am and 11am. For Weekday Masses we will use the area of the church closest to our Sanctuary. Entry via side door; use the sanatiser sit as far as possible from the door and observe social distancing. Sunday 8.30a.m.

The wearing of face masks is strongly advised in church for everybody’s safety and welfare. We can all then worship in a safer environmen­t.

Sacrament of Baptism (One child only ) Saturday 3p.m. We will use the same area as for Weekday Masses. We would appreciate help cleaning the seats after the Sacrament.

These are challengin­g times: each of us is struggling with our own individual circumstan­ces: frontline work; reduced income; unemployme­nt; anxiety; isolation; lack of routine; domestic tensions, and many other issues. Some parishione­rs are trying to facilitate other avenues of income for upkeep of the Parish; as we have no envelope income since Mass is being celebrated without a congregati­on. Parishione­rs, who wish to and are able to, might use one of the following: Standing order forms are available either in the porch of the church or we can post one to you if you message our Facebook page Mellifont Parish-Tullyallen.

The Parish have linked up with i-donate to facilitate on-line donations. By clicking the link on our Facebook Page you will be brought to the Parish of Mellifont page where you will be given the opportunit­y to make a one-off OR regular donation to the Parish. We thank you for your ongoing support and assistance with our stewards and with your compliance with procedures at our Masses. This is enabling us to worship in a safer environmen­t. Many thanks to our Parish Pastoral Council and Pastoral Area Resource Team who have arranged for us to return to Mass. Many thanks too to our stewards who are helping us to worship in a safer way. Maximum number in our church is 50. People who are unwell or belong to at risk group should stay at home.

ROSSIN ROVERS

Rossin Rovers are looking for boys/girls for their U13 team. All coach’s Garda vetted , safe guarded and all coach’s have coaching badges.

The club was recently awarded FAI club mark. Training is on Tuesday nights at 7 in Monknewtow­n Community Pitch. Games are on Sunday mornings. Contact Brian Mahon on 0863880599 for more details.

LOTTO RESULTS

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto sponsored by The Morning Star and held Tuesday, 15th September in the Seating area of Centra Shop. The Grand Prize Draw was for €4,200 and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were 1,2,13 & 27. The Lucky dip winner was members of Dinija Aleidzane who will receive a ‘ Wee County’ Double House

If you would like your envelope collected, contact any member of the Emmets and they can organize to collect your envelope or call into the Hut that has now made its return to the Centra Shop on Saturdays so it is now even easier to get your numbers in.

DRIVE IN BINGO

The Glen Emmets Drive In Bingo has been going from strength to strength since it first made an appearance a few weeks ago. With lots of winners over the last few weeks, I can see this being a roaring success for the club and local charities who all benefit from this. The newer time now has a starting time of 3pm. Gates open at 1.30pm with the numbers rolling out till 5pm as the darker evenings are getting closer. Conor Byrne is the caller with Joey Carolan acting as his right hand man and pre bingo music is by Kevin O’Sullivan. The overall prize fund is €4000 with the Guaranteed snowball being €1000. A book is €10, a book & 2 x snowball sheets x 2 is €15. A double book is €15 and double book plus snowball x 2 is €20. The Snowball sheet is €3 or two sheets for €5. Books are sold on entry to the field and access to the grounds is at the Gates of ‘An Croi’ and also at the entrance at the back of the school Stewards will direct everyone to their parking spaces. All are welcome to come along for this great family fun event.

MEN’S SHED

Well done to all in the Men’s Shed for their fantastic work on the playground. They gave the area a much needed facelift and their hard work is very much appreciate­d by the children and parents alike.

The Men’s Shed is back up and running on Tuesday and Friday mornings, 10am till 1pm. They are also there on a Wednesday evening 7pm till 10pm. Everyone must wear a mask or visor in line with Covid 19 Guidelines. All men from the parish and surroundin­g area are welcome to come along and join in.

They are organizing a raffle to help get funds to get a workshop. Tickets are on sale for €10 and enter you in a draw to win a 8 x 6ft Garden Shed, kindly donated by Watters Garden Sheds. Second prize is a Wishing well wheelbarro­w planter made by the men’s shed members. The draw will be held Friday, 30th October and tickets can be purchased from Watters Bros, Drumcashel, Stabanon, Lambe Butcher’s Tullyallen or any member of the Tullyallen Men’s Shed.

BOYNE VALLEY CAMINO CHALLENGE

Registrati­on is now open for the Boyne Valley Camino Challenge. Anyone interested in a fun challenge of an amazing 25km walk and ramble through the beautiful Boyne Valley countrysid­e in aid of NECRET, who support focused activities towards improving treatment and outcomes of people with cancer.

This starts at St Peter’s Church and will be led by experience­d tour leaders who have very kindly volunteere­d their services. The trail follows the River Boyne before gaining the woodlands of the Townley Estate and then meandering quiet lanes to Mellifont, where there will be an opportunit­y for that much earned packed lunch or other refreshmen­ts. A separate return route gives a total walk of 25km.

To participat­e completed registrati­on forms must be received no later than midday on Wednesday September 23rd. Limited numbers will apply so please register as soon as possible. All relevant public health advise will apply to this event including social distancing etc.

Please ensure your personal safety while enjoying this Camino. Let someone know where you are going, bring a charged phone, go in company, go in good light, wear hi-viz. Some parts of the trail are shared with vehicles and cyclists so please adhere to the rules of the road. Some areas may be mucky so wear sturdy boots, bring clothes layers, sunscreen and waterproof­s for any weather eventualit­y. Bring food and drinks. Recycle or dispose of any waste correctly. If you encounter an emergency situation, call 999 or 112. And finally remember to enjoy yourself.
