Gift Card plan for local shops
WITH the good C-word just around the corner (and the other C-word showing no sign of abating), it will now be even easier to support your local businesses!
Love Drogheda Business Improvement District (BID) are working with Miconex to develop and deliver a Mastercard-backed Gift Card option for all businesses within the Drogheda BID area, which they hope to launch in early November 2020.
The aim of the card is to retain as much local spend as possible, whilst reducing economic leakage to competing areas. Local town vouchers and gift cards help encourage further uplift in the economy through the shop local multiplier effect
‘We hope that this Gift Card will grow over the next number of years with the emphasis on promoting a strong local economy and giving users of the gift card the variety and option of getting a haircut, family portrait, heating or decorating their home, eating out, picking up that new pair of earrings, getting new glasses, ordering flowers and everything in between,’ explains BIDs CEO Trevor Connolly. ‘ The Love Drogheda Gift Card will offer the user the Gift of Choice throughout the town! And we want you to be part of this great initiative’.
So, with this in mind, they are seeking to sign up as many stores and businesses throughout Drogheda Town & District to accept the Gift Card. It is free to register and free to accept.
‘We aim to have the Love Drogheda Gift Card accepted in all types of businesses from garden centres to tile merchants, clothing, hair salons, restaurants, cafes, car washes, boutiques, launderettes, gift stores, phone shops, butchers, delis, IT, stationery and many more amenities,’adds Trevor. ‘We would encourage every business to register for free to accept this gift card that is focused on retaining local spend’.
