THE Loving Life Choir will take part once again to the ‘Shine A Light Night’ to raise funds and awareness for homelessness, but have adapted the event to meet COVID restrictions.

They are asking for your support to ‘Give on the Night to Change a Lifetime’, and help raise as much money as possible for those who don’t have a roof over their heads.

‘ This Friday, we will be leaving the comfort of our own bed for one night to sleep-out in our Green Area and some in their garden on Shine a Light Night to support people experiencing homelessness and raise vital funds for Focus Ireland,’ explains organiser Ken O’Heiligh. ‘Whilst you are tucked up in bed, we will be sleeping on cardboard and some in tents, battling Ireland’s cold weather with just a sleeping bag and a cup of soup’.

This is the second year that the Loving Life Choir has supported Focus Ireland in Combating homelessness, raising over €3,000, singing Christmas carols in Connolly Station.

The sleep-out with be in strictly adhering to the government guidelines in terms of gathering size.

Other participants will sleep-out safely at their home, garden and join in virtually on Friday 16th October.

‘ The COVID-19 pandemic has been a huge challenge for us all, and it has been particularly challenging for the many men, women, families and children who are homelessness or at risk of homelessness,’ explains choir founder Ken, who is also CEO of Foscadh Housing. ‘We were shocked to realise that there are over 8,728 people homeless in Ireland and over 2,650 are children. We’ve signed up to host a virtual sleep-out so we can play our part in helping Focus Ireland provide vital prevention services and change people’s lives’.
