PEARSE WANTS BRIDGE WORKS

Sinn Fein Councillor Pearse McGeough is seeking safety measures for the bridge which straddles the border between County Louth and County Monaghan which he says “is unsafe in its current state. As you come round the bend from the N2 you come upon it very quickly and there is a hump in the road which can be very deceiving and dangerous.”

The Bridge is located on the road between Lannat Cross and Roes Cross and the response Cllr McGeough received was that the bridge is in County Monaghan and therefore falls under their remit.

Cllr McGeough disputed this advising that the bridge is actually right on the border.

Following the meeting Cllr McGeough liaised with his fellow councilors in Monaghan and said “they will raise it at the next Carrickmacross/Castleblayney Council meeting. One way or another, this bridge needs to be at least looked at by engineers and to have safety measures assessed.”

October is Mission Month, a month where we are called to support and pray with and for our Missionaries. Ireland has a long history of Missionaries serving in the most deprived parts of the world and this tradition continues today with Irish Missionaries working in many developing countries as well as in the developed world with projects that support and enable disadvantaged communities. During this month, parishioners are encouraged to pray for our missionaries abroad and those discerning the vocation to mission–we are also invited to support the work of our Missionaries and especially on Mission Sunday, 17/18th October your support of the Mission Sunday Collection.

Novena to Our Lady: Novena Prayers via Parish Webcam at 10.00am Mass each Monday beginning 12th October.

The income for the upkeep of our parish has fallen dramatically in recent months due to the Covid 19 restrictions. Please use the collection boxes provided at the Church doors or leave in the Parish Office from 10.30-12.30pm. We appeal for your continued support of the Parish and the Priest Dues. We are now accepting payments through the phone for Masses, Donations, etc. We encourage you to use the online banking facility. If you need any assistance with this, contact Sinéad in the Parish Office 685 0920. Everyones support is essential and very much appreciated. Many thanks.

Families throughout Ireland are encouraged to pray the Rosary each day during October–or even one decade of the Rosary– for themselves, their loved ones and for all those whose health or livelihood is being seriously impacted by the coronavirus crisis. St Therese, The Little Flower, Patroness of the Missions, pray for us and for all our families. Amen.

List of the dead: November is traditionally the month we call to mind and pray for all who have died. We remember our family and friends, those whom we have loved in life and do not forget in death. November List of the Dead Envelopes are available at the church doors. Masses are offered on Nov 2nd, All Souls Day and every First Friday for those enrolled on our Parish List of the Dead and they are prayed for at every Mass in the parish. Please enrol the names of your deceased loved ones and friends and return the lists to the Collection Boxes provided at the Church doors or the Parish Office.
