RESTART A HEART DAY–16TH OCTOBER

Restart a Heart Day is an annual training event on October 16th relating to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillator use or first aid surrounding heart attacks. Education and training will be offered to the general public in CPR and what to do in the event of a heart attack. This is a Global Event where the Irish Heart Foundation and many other Statutory and Voluntary Organisations are involved in spreading the word on CPR. There are many on-line videos on CPR available. The aim of Restart a Heart Day is to bring awareness, education and training to the general public in order to increase the likelihood of lives being saved in the event of a heart attack, as the early moments of a heart attack are critical and a trained person on the scene can make the critical difference. While last Friday was Restart A Heart Day, it’s always a relevant topic, the information is there to be availed of. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions this year, many Organisations are making a special effort to make resources on CRP and First Aid available on-line. Well done and thanks to them.

THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD WORK

Despite the current restrictions that we are all operating under, great work has been achieved throughout the District during the year. Thanks to all the Community Volunteers and Scheme Participants who have been busy, making the place look its best. The Association would like to thank Meath Partnership and Ardee Community Employment Project who provide Scheme Participants under the RSS, TUS and CE Schemes respectively. In difficult times, all this assistance is especially welcome, and making a big difference.

CHRISTMAS IS NOT CANCELLED

But the Christmas Fair and Christmas Set Dance Ceili are. Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic, these two popular and well supported Annual Christmas events at Teach Raithneach will not take place this year. However, it is hoped to have the Christmas Lights and Decorations up for the Festive Season.

DULEEK AND DISTRICT DARTS

The Duleek and District Darts Committee have decided not to run a Winter League in the 2020 / 2021 Season due to the Covid-19 situation. This will be the first time in 45 years this has happened, but the Committee felt that given the current situation, they had no option but to cancel the upcoming season in full. The Committee will continue to seek ways of completing this year’s league play offs, i.e. League Qtr, Semi and Finals, Semi Final of Cups, and Shields if possible’. Well done to all involved with the Duleek and District Darts League, one of the best in the country, always extremely well managed and run. Dart Throwers and supporters look forward to the darts returning when it is safe to do so. A good decision!
