PARISH NOTICE

From Saturday the 13th February and each following Saturday until further notice Fr. Brendan will be in Ardcath Church from 3.00pm to 3.30pm and Clonalvy from 3.30-4pm. This is to facilitate Parishione­rs who wish to book Anniversar­y Masses, Weddings, and Baptisms and to get Mass Cards and Mass Bouquets.

As we head into the nesting season, BirdWatch Ireland wishes to remind everyone that, under the Wildlife Acts, the cutting of hedgerows and the burning of gorse and other vegetation are prohibited between 1st March and 31st August. It is important to note that all wild birds are protected under national and EU law, and most stringentl­y of all during the period when they are breeding, i.e., when birds seek out and establish territorie­s, find a mate, begin nest-building and then lay their eggs and rear their chicks. DULEEK BELLEWSTOW­N GAA JOINS HEART PROGRAM

The club has joined the GAA’s community Heart Program and created a fundraisin­g page to acquire their very own on-site AED. What’s an AED? An AED (Automated External Defibrilla­tor) is a medical device that can help save the life of a person experienci­ng cardiac arrest by delivering an electric shock to re-establish the normal heart rhythm. Every euro raised will help Bellewstow­n get closer to acquiring an AED for use by the Gaelic and Pitch & Putt Club and the Bellewstow­n community. With hopes of opening up soon, we would ask members to pay their membership fees; we know that you did not get much use last year, but the course must be maintained and that costs money. MELLIFONT PARISH EASTER GREETING FOR PARISHIONE­RS:

These are challengin­g times: each of us is struggling with our own individual circumstan­ces: frontline work; reduced income; unemployme­nt; anxiety; isolation; lack of routine; domestic tensions, and many other issues. Some parishione­rs are trying to facilitate other avenues of income for upkeep of the Parish; as we have no envelope income since Mass is being celebrated without a congregati­on. Parishione­rs, who wish to and are able to, might use one of the following: Standing order forms are available either in the porch of the church or we can post one to you if you message our Facebook page Mellifont Parish-Tullyallen.

TRÓCAIRE BOXES

Trócaire Boxes can be returned to Centra Shop. Your support for the Trócaire Lenten Campaign is gratefully appreciate­d.

Public Mass is now suspended Our church is open daily 10am to 4pm for solitary and private prayer. A section of our church has been cordoned off in order to facilitate private prayer in a sanitised area. We would ask kindly if every visitor to our church would use this area only at this time of Covid-19. Weekly Bulletins are available in church in this area.

THE WHOLE SHEBANG CHILDREN’S CAMPS

A lot of Tullyallen children are familiar with ‘The Whole Shebang Children’s Camps’ and will be glad to know that they are planning their summer camps again this year in Knockbridg­e and Tullyallen. The dates were finalized last week and the children in Tullyallen can avail of 2 dates. This camp is aimed at children 4 years to 12 years and costs €55 per child or €50 for the second child in a family or €45 for the 3rd child in your family. Week 1 is Monday 5th to Friday 9th July and week 2 is Monday 9th to Friday 13th August in the Glen Emmets GAA pitch. This camp is a favourite with all the Tullyallen children and takes in all sorts of activities such as Sports, Dancing, Art, Craft, Water Games and lots more. The camp is starts at 9.30am to 2pm and it is advisable to book your place sooner rather than later to secure your child’s place. Telephone or text Mark Hoey on 085 7280376.

EMMETS WALKWAY

With the long evenings upon us, The Glen Emmets ‘Lights on’ initiative is over till next autumn! But the grounds are still open and they encourage everyone to get up and get out for a walk and take advantage of these gorgeous spring evenings. They wish to say Thanks to everyone for all the positive messages they received about their walking track and are delighted to see it being so well used.

TULLYALLEN MEN’S SHED

Well done to our Men’s Shed members who are working away, all on their own at the moment but great to see that their good work is not being hampered by the current restrictio­ns. They have a limited number of large vegetable planters (30” square) available. Contact any member of the Men’s Shed or PM them on their Facebook page to secure yours before they are all gone. All proceeds go towards the Men’s

Shed. The members would like to say a massive Thank You to Derek & Michael at Watters Bros Drumcashel, Stabannon for giving them wood for their projects, this is very much appreciate­d.

LOTTO RESULTS

The Glen Emmets Lotto sponsored by The Morning Star is running weekly but due to the COVID restrictio­ns it is now being held in Lynch’s Centra, Tullyallen for the time being. The results for the draw that took place on Tuesday 6th April 2021 is as follows: The Grand Prize was for €7,100 and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were 23, 29, 5 & 8. The four Lucky dip winners are Fr. Larry Caraher, Eleanor Downey, Sheila Wood & John Carey who receive €25 each. Next week’s draw is for €7,100. You can see this online on the Glen Emmets Facebook page and tickets are on sale in Centra Tullyallen or go onto the Glen Emmets Web page where you can set up your weekly draw numbers and payment. But not to worry if you are not internet savvy, if you would like your envelope collected, contact any member of the Emmets and they can organize to collect your envelope.

GLEN EMMETS REGISTRATI­ON 2021 DATES

Registrati­on for the Glen Emmets 2021 opened on March 1st. All registrati­ons are online this year and a link for this is listed on the Glen Emmets Facebook page. You must be registered by 30th April 2021. The Annual Membership fees are as follows: Adult Player–€175 (this includes one year lotto).

Adult Non Player €100 (this includes one year lotto). One Juvenile €150 (this includes one adult non player member for lotto purposes).Additional Juvenile is €20 (No Lotto included). Social membership is €40 (For inclusion in Scór etc.) Membership includes lotto with immediate effect, plus 12 months to March 2022 *Social membership does not include Lotto or voting rights at AGM.

GAA SUMMER SPORTS CAMP SPORTS COACH SEARCH

The GAA are starting to recruit their Summer Sports Coaches. To apply, take a look on the GAA website and complete the forms on there. Coaches need to be 18 + years, have a minimum coaching requiremen­t–foundation coaching award / introducti­on to Gaelic games. To have completed the Garda Vetting / Access NI and also to have completed the GAA child safe guarding course. They are also recruiting Assistant Coaches for some counties (not all counties are accepting assistant coaches but check on the GAA website for further details). The role of Assistant coach allows 16-18 year olds work at Cúil Camps once accompanie­d by a qualified GAA coach.
