Talent and pride on show at St Mary’s DS photo exhibition

-

THERE were as many proud parents and teachers as students at the launch of the St Mary’s Diocesan School ‘Vision’ photographic exhibition in the Droichead Arts Centre.

The exhibition is made up of the finest work from the school’s Photography Club, set up for 1st years to 6th years, in 2016 by TY co-ordinator Ms Roisin Curtis.

“I’m beaming with pride to have achieved launching the exhibition for the fourth time in the eight years since its inception. Standing back and watching as the students, both juniors and seniors, brought their parents and grandparents enthusiastically over to see their own photos framed and hanging on a wall beside their peers work, was heart warming and gave me immense pride in them,” said Ms Curtis.

“It’s not just about having their photo framed and hanging in an exhibition, it’s about the journey it took us all to get here; the trips out, the friendships made, the hundreds of photos it took to get that perfect shot and the confidence it took to join a club alone”.

The exhibition will run in the arts centre until April 13th and it is well worth popping in to see the talented work of the students.

“Congratulations to all involved and a huge thanks to everyone who came to support the boys and school. A huge thanks must go out to Collette Farrell for lending this amazing space to our Photography Club and to always going above and beyond to support the youth of Drogheda in the Arts,” added fellow TY co-ordinator Ms Edel Tumelty.

“Thanks to students Tom Redmond, Daniel Ryan and Sam Mahon for giving the opening speeches and to all of the students involved for makingthe launch happen, we’re all beyond proud of you for pulling this together.”
