Free work­shops for film­mak­ers in St Michael’s

A FREE scriptwrit­ing and act­ing work­shop will be hosted at St Michael’s Theatre in New Ross for teenage film­mak­ers based in County Wex­ford.

The three-day scriptwrit­ing work­shop will be fa­cil­i­tated by award win­ning writer and direc­tor Laura Way. Laura’s pro­duc­tion com­pany, Bodeci Films, de­vel­ops orig­i­nal in­dige­nous TV and film in Wex­ford town.

She is cur­rently run­ning the screen ac­tors pro­gram in the

Gai­ety School of Act­ing and was writer-direc­tor for the 2017 grad­u­ate show­case.

The work­shop will be­gin on Satur­day, March 24 and con­tinue on Tues­day, April 3, and Wed­nes­day, April 4, from

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Par­tic­i­pants will learn how to write and de­velop a script. Any­body in­ter­ested in writ­ing is strongly en­cour­aged to ap­ply.

Cros­bie will fa­cil­i­tate a two-day work­shop on ‘Act­ing for the

Screen’. The work­shop dates are Thurs­day, April 5, and Fri­day, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. John also fa­cil­i­tated this pop­u­lar work­shop last year. No pre­vi­ous ex­pe­ri­ence is re­quired to par­tic­i­pate in ei­ther work­shop.

Therese Dal­ton, co-or­di­na­tor of The County Wex­ford Youth Film Pro­ject, said: ‘ This is a fan­tas­tic op­por­tu­nity for young film­mak­ers and we are de­lighted to have both Laura and John on board to fa­cil­i­tate these work­shops, which hosts film­mak­ing work­shops through­out the year at St Michael’s Theatre in New Ross.’

This programme is funded by St Michael’s Theatre and The Arts Depart­ment of Wex­ford County Coun­cil. Places are free to teenagers across County Wex­ford.
